about bear + pineapple

There is a saying about pineapples, "stand tall, wear a crown + be sweet on the inside". Many moons ago, when my daughter was little, I called her my little pineapple. And, like good nicknames do, it stuck.

Then there's me; the momma bear. Always there to protect her cub along the ever changing  journey of life.

Bear + Pineapple Photography is an ode to love, commitment + all things happiness.

My beautiful, energetic, + smart little pineapple and my amazingly supportive husband are the anchors in my life. They are the ones who push me to be my best self, and I couldn't be luckier to have them by my side. We have an old rescue dog who barks too loud, eats way too many goldfish, and owns the bottom part of our bed. We recently adopted a cat to our family who likes to snuggle, chase feathered toys, and tell stories.

When I'm not behind the camera, I'm exploring all Maine has to offer. I'm an ocean lover, and will visit the beach even on the coldest of days. I  have a carb problem, and could live off of cereal, bagels, cheese, and cannolis. I'm giddy when I get to play an awesome game of ping pong. And, my husband already knows I'm patiently waiting to add a table to our home. I am a frequent flier of the library, coffee shops, and anywhere that sells Birkenstocks. I love tattoos, iced coffee year round, writing poetry,  exercising, and my heated blanket. I can't go a day without listening to music. I don't like glitter, and while I'm laid back - it's the one thing not allowed in our home. I don't like it when people don't put their carts away at the store, and you'll never find me on a cruise.  Lastly, I love all humans from all walks of life, and will do whatever I can to make others happy.

In my mid-twenties my passion for photography took off. I am mostly self taught, and attended several workshops at Maine Media Workshops in Camden. After Camden, I hustled hard, and found myself over the next few years working under three different wedding photographers as second shooters in Vermont + Maine. While working alongside these photographers, I maintained my own wedding photography business, and was published three times in Vermont Bride Magazine.

After having my daughter in 2013, my business took a back seat while I navigated all things parenthood. In 2018 I opened Bear + Pineapple Photography focusing mainly on families. I am so incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love + support I have received since peeking back into the photography world. In the past year, I have been able to connect with many families in the community, have my work auctioned off at Bakery Gallery Collective, and was accepted into the competitive Maine Photography Show in Boothbay, Maine. It's been an amazing, and fun ride the past couple of years! I hope you all continue with me on this journey.
