about bear + pineapple
There is a saying about pineapples "stand tall, wear a crown + be sweet on the inside". Many moons ago when my daughter was little, I called her my little pineapple. And, like good nicknames do, it stuck.
Then there's me, the momma bear. Always there to protect her cub along the ever changing journey of life.
bear + pineapple photography is an ode to love, commitment + all things happiness.
my take on photo sessions
The photo on the left is one of my favorites ever taken of my daughter by a very talented friend. Meagan was able to capture what those first few months of our lives were like together. It's so raw and brings emotions to the surface every time I look at it. This is also the photo which changed the way I look at photography years later.
Every family is unique and special in their own way. We rush through every day, inevitably overlooking moments that are imperfect, but beautiful. As adults, we spend so much time stressing about making things as perfect as we can. And, that's not life, life isn't perfect. We often forget how to stop and embrace the moment. A spilled juice box can be a really silly memory if you let it. A crying child could turn into a tender moment. A laugh can shake the universe if we don't try to silence it. For me, the best photographs are those which are true to the moment + period of your life. Life is imperfectly beautiful, and that is always worth capturing.

Stacie in a nutshell
My beautiful, energetic, + smart little pineapple and my amazingly supportive husband are the anchors in my life. They are the ones who push me to be my best self, and I couldn't be luckier to have them by my side. We have an old rescue dog who barks too loud, eats way too many goldfish, and keeps my feet warm at night. After my daughter was born, the four of us decided it was time to lay down some roots where our hearts have always been - the coast of Maine.
When I'm not behind the camera, I'm exploring all Maine has to offer. I'm an ocean junkie, and will visit the beach even on the coldest of days. I'm always on the lookout for a great cannoli and passing by a bakery is never an option. I'm giddy when I get to play an awesome game of ping pong. And, my husband already knows I'm patiently waiting to add a table to our home. I am a frequent flier of the library, coffee shops, and anywhere that sells Birkenstocks. My favorite Friends character is Ross, although Chandler takes a close second. My daughter loves to listen to the Beatles, Michael Franti + the song Hakuna Matata. Her love for that particular music is a direct reflection of me.
In my mid-twenties my passion for photography took off. I am mostly self taught, and attended several workshops at Maine Media Workshops in Camden. After Camden, I hustled hard, and found myself over the next few years working under three different wedding photographers as second shooters in Vermont + Maine. It's important I acknowledge my mentors who not only believed in me but gave me a chance at chasing my dream. Thank you, Rachel Bell, Michael Riddell + Daria Bishop. While working alongside these photographers, I maintained my own wedding photography business, and was published in Vermont Bride Magazine. After having my daughter, my business took a back seat while I navigated all things parenthood. Now I'm embracing the moment + embarking on a new journey. I would be honored if you came along with me.
